It's Been a Long Time!

Oh, yes it has. I think my last post is at least five months old... What can I say? It's been busy here, and so much has changed.

Over September and October I was walking through Spain on the Camino de Santiago. Which was in itself a completely life changing experience. There were revelations about music and settling my soul with leaving the band behind and going more into voice acting, amongst a million other things. Walking 500 miles does something to your soul that is hard to put into words, but it gave me hope.

And before that?

Well, I'm up to my 25th job on Voices.com and things are going well there. Voice acting is becoming a viable career pathway for me, and can completely cover my rent most months, with my part time job on top of that seeing me through the rest of the month. The commercial and games reels are recorded and nearly ready to go, which I hope will lead to representation of some kind. And the clients have been getting quite interesting - some larger brands but also some fun niche "casual" games.

Oh, and the booth collapsed, but we rebuilt it (we is me and my friend, Alfie) better than before, adding in extra supports and more heavy blankets for soundproofing. It's now better than ever, while still being incredibly primitive!

The reality of building an actual vocal "room with in a room" booth in rented accommodation remains a challenge, and we've just found out we have to move in the New Year. If anyone has any ideas or advise on building a modular vocal booth in a rented house in a big city like London, please give me a shout at georgesmileyvoice@gmail.com

Maybe it sounds cliche, but so far this year has been incredibly powerful, with real meaningful changes for me. And voice acting is one of them. I'm grateful for it.

Thanks for reading!

George :)
